Oklahoma Governor Signs Bill Exempting Injured Veterans from Paying Property Taxes
Veterans returning from battle are heroes. They risk their lives to protect our country and its citizens, so we may all live free lives. Upon returning, however, veterans don’t always receive the honor they deserve. Their benefits are limited, and they end up suffering in many different aspects of their lives, including financially, mentally, and physically. Due to this, many veterans sadly become homeless with no hope inside.
To help injured veterans, Governor Mary Fallin just signed a new bill into effect, exempting them from paying property taxes. Disabled vets will no longer have to pay their property taxes and can, instead, focus their finances to their daily necessities.
According to the new law, vets who are qualified for the exemption are those who make $20,000 or less. There will be almost 2,900 veterans who can benefit from the new law.
