University of Tulsa to Expand Facilities for Oxley College of Health Sciences

There is a great demand for health care services, but unfortunately, there is a shortage in the number of existing health care professionals. To address this concern, the University of Tulsa is planning on expanding its Oxley College of Health Sciences to accommodate more students in the coming years.

This week, the University of Tulsa announced its purchase of a 52,000-square foot building to expand the Oxley College of Health Sciences. The building is a former Blue Cross Blue Shield facility located in the downtown area, near 12th and Boulder.

The University plans to renovate the five floors to accommodate new classrooms, laboratories, and a clinic. There will be six classrooms new classrooms to increase the school’s capacity from 310 students to over 600. Experiential laboratories will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as life-like patient simulators.

The new clinic will be located on the first floor of the building to service the public. It will be called the Hurricane Health Clinic and will offer general health services to all. Some of the services include rehabilitation, wellness, primary and preventative care, mental health, and even legal services. University students and staff will also work at the clinic.
