Tips on How to Make Home Cleaning Less Stressful

Maintaining a clean house all the time can be challenging. Everyone is busy, everyone is trying to cram as much as they can into their days, and it can be stressful when you fall behind on your cleaning. It doesn’t have to be this way, however. With a few tricks, you can turn that stressful situation into a light task and walk away with a sparkling clean space in no time.

To help alleviate the stress of cleaning your house, here are a few tips:

  • Put on some music. Create a fun and relaxing environment, so your body will feel at ease even while you sweep, mop, and organize things. Music soothes the senses, and it can help you feel more energetic despite the workload. And, dancing to music while you mop, makes it more fun!
  • Reward yourself. Give yourself personal incentives to finish cleaning. For example, after you finish cleaning the kitchen, reward yourself with an hour of watching your favorite TV show. These little pleasures can perk you up and give you the inspiration to move on.
  • Divide them up. You don’t need to clean the entire house in one day. That can be a very daunting task, and it will make you more likely to put it off and drag your feet. Instead, break it down task by task. Clean the bedroom now and tackle the living room this afternoon.
  • Have everyone help. Don’t take the full load all by yourself. You have everyone in the house to help you clean. Just be realistic in setting responsibilities. For instance, assign each kid to clean their rooms thoroughly while you clean the kitchen.
  • Create a checklist. If cleaning gets too overwhelming and there are loads to do, you can create a checklist for you to just cross off every time you finish a task. That way, you can see your progress and you can move on.
  • Do the little things everyday. Don’t let the general cleaning schedule to be a huge mess where you have to clean everything even up to the little things. Instead, make your bed every morning and practice clean as you go. Bring things back after use. These little things can really make a difference once you already set your mind and schedule to clean the house.
