Gilcrease Museum to Improve With New Vision Tulsa
If the new Vision Tulsa program is to be extended, there is an increased chance of improvements on the docket for the Gilcrease Museum. The museum has been a valuable asset to the city, and with the proposed enhancements, the facility hopes to drive in even more tourists into the community.
Gilcrease Museum is considered among the best facilities in the study of American history and art. With a wide selection of artifacts and information, it has been well known not just within the state but around the country. However, 97 percent of available artifacts are in storage, or oftentimes, overlooked.
According to Executive Director James Pepper Henry, Gilcrease Museum stands to benefit if it offers more than just place to show artwork. Henry has proposed places to create a comprehensive experience and a tourist destination.
Plans for improvement in the museum would include an iconic design depicting Gilcrease and the city, a glass front restaurant overlooking the downtown area and an additional 12,000-square-foot space for visiting exhibits.
