Closing of Zeledyne Glass Plant Gives Rise to CenterPoint Industrial Park
Two years ago, Zeledyne officials confirmed that its plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma would be closed. The news followed the company’s sale of its Carlite aftermarket business and Nashville auto glass plant to Central Glass Corporation.
Today, the former Zeledyne property on 5555 S. 129thEast Ave is no longer a glass plant. The 1.43 million square foot factory has been inactive since Zeledyne LLC closed down. The company actually spent $4 million to upgrade their architectural glass unit but unfortunately, the demand for services continued to drop. The plant formerly employed 650 people to make automotive glass. The industry’s furnace buildings are now being torn down.
5555 Property Developers LLC, the organization that has bought the property, will be changing the remaining 900,000 square feet of land into the CenterPoint Industrial Park. The organization purchased the industrial estate from Ford Motor Company last February. Two new buildings are currently under construction. The broker for the facility’s sale, David Glasgow, stated that 1 million square feet will be constructed over the coming years. He additionally declared that the owners of Center Point decided to buy and renovate the facilities because of the tight market for industrial real estate.
The old buildings forming Zeledyne Glass Plant will soon be renovated with new roofs, cosmetic improvements and new electric systems. The building will also be sectioned for several business occupants unless a tenant wishes to occupy the entire building. At this time, David Glasgow is already accommodating tenant proposals. The north building will possibly be leased for a large single user.
