7th Annual Michael J. Garner Renal Run 5K in Tulsa This Saturday
If you’ve ever had a loved one who has suffered from cancer, you know the great distress and sorrow is causes them and everyone close to them. Far too many families have lost someone to cancer, and it can be devastating. Despite the pain, there are those who decide to move forward by helping others going through a similar situation in order to offer them support and hope.
This coming Saturday, July 18th, the 7th Annual Michael J. Garner Renal Run 5K is happening to raise money to support the victims of kidney cancer. The Renal Run started as a fundraiser for The Kidney Cancer Association to raise funds to support patients and their families. The run itself is dedicated to Sgt. Mike Garner, who battled kidney cancer for 10 yeras. A few months after Garner passed away, his family decided to make it their mission to help others going through the same situation.
The race will be held at 68th & Riverside Drive in Tulsa, with a turn just south of 53rd Place. Registration starts at 5:00am. The 1 Mile Fun Run kicks off at 7:00am, and the 5K race starts at 7:30am.
