Sneaky Ways to Hide Your Security Camera at Home

Sneaky Ways to Hide Your Security Camera at Home

Thieves are becoming smarter in their field thanks to advances in technology and the information they can find online. Knowing many homes have security cameras, they have become much more skilled at hiding their faces when breaking into homes. This obviously makes it more difficult for homeowners and police to identify a thief, so you must become more creative than the bad guys.

One way to put up a fight against this mouse-and-cat routine is to find sneaky ways to hide your security camera. If you have cameras in places thieves aren’t expecting them, you have a better chance of catching them off guard and getting a clear show of their faces. Here are some sneaky examples of how to hide your security camera:

  • Hide it among the plants. Who would expect a camera to be lurking in a plant? Plants are usually only for decoration inside your house, so they provide a great, unexpected hiding place.
  • Put it among books. Hide your camera on your bookshelf. If a thief is scanning the bookshelf for potentially valuable items, you will get a clear, full frontal image of them when they pass by the camera.
  • Install it among the trees. If you want to have a security camera that will show footage of the exterior of your home, the trees are a great place to do that. Make to protect it from rain by hiding it in something like a bird house or protective casing.
  • Add it to your electronics. You can place your security camera within your TV stand, so it can simply blend with the other electronics.
  • Make it blend it with toys. Kids’ rooms are often fairly easy places to hide things because they have so many toys and stuffed animals.
  • Hide it behind the mirror. For houses with thick walls, you can create a hole in one part of the wall, set up your security camera and hide it behind a two-way mirror.

Inside a glass vase. A vase is probably the most standard type of decor you can have, which means it’s also not as suspicious as other items may be when it comes to hiding a camera. Just make sure you position the camera in such a way that the vase doesn’t block its line of vision.
