Tulsa Plans to Build New Plaza Along Arkansas River
Every community needs a place where people can gather, relax, meet new friends, and enjoy themselves. That is why local governments build public spaces such as plazas and parks.
The local government in Tulsa is planning to do just that by building a new plaza along the west side of the Arkansas River. The new plaza is set to resemble the existing plaza on the east side of the river called the Cyrus Avery Centennial Plaza. A budget of $500,000 has been allocated for the project.
The plaza will not only serve the local community, but it will also help boost visitor traffic along Route 66. The Route 66 Commission supports the project, as it will be a great supplement to the Route 66 Experience Museum that will be opening in a couple of years.
Currently, the project is in its planning stage, but the new plaza will be located next to the 11th Street Bridge, along West 17th Street and Southwest Boulevard.
