The Great Raft Race is Back in Tulsa
Get ready to see some live action down at the Arkansas River this Labor Day! Themed homebuilt rafts will be flooding the river for Tulsa’s Great Raft Race, and everyone is welcome to join the festivities and cheer them on.
The Great Raft Race is a classic event in Tulsa that revived last year to bring back the tradition to the city. Now on its second year, the event hopes to bring even more entertainment and fun. Anyone can participate in the race as long as they officially register in advance. There will be three types of vessels: purchased watercraft, small to mid-sized homebuilt rafts, and mid- to large-sized homebuilt rafts.
There are two categories for the race. The Pokie Okie will be an untimed race centered on pure recreational floating down the river. There will also be a competitive and timed race with trophies for the winners at the end. The most creative theme and costumes for the home built rafts will also receive an award.
It will be a wild, quirky, fun event this Monday, Sept.5, at the River West Festival Park.
