Proper Ways to Clean High Windows
Your home will be brighter all summer if you take the time to clean your high windows. There’s nothing more beautiful than natural lighting filtering through your windows and casting a beautiful glow throughout your home.
The beauty and functionality of high windows are definitely worth the investment. But, what about maintenance? Cleaning your high windows is necessary to avoid build up of dirt and dust on the glass and panels. When they are hard to reach, however, cleaning can be quite a challenge.
To help you clean your high windows properly, here are some tips:
- Schedule a time for it. Though you can certainly make an instantaneous decision to clean your high window, most people usually don’t feel compelled to do that. So, you need to set aside a specific time for it in order to ensure it happens. Cleaning your windows can take hours, especially if you’re deep cleaning them. So, schedule a day when you can block out a continuous block of time, so you can complete the project start to finish.
- Create a strategy to clean your windows. What do you plan to do? Where will you start? How will you reach your windows? Before you start the task, have a plan in mind so you won’t waste time.
- Clean both sides It may be easier to clean the interior of your windows, but the exterior needs freshening as well, usually more so. No matter how clean your inner windows are, the dirt and grime buildup on your exterior windows will ruin the effect if they aren’t cleaned as well.
- Have your tools ready. Make sure you have all the cleaning materials you need before you implement your plan. Have a bucket to put all of your tools in when climbing up the ladder.
- Safety first. Safety is important and therefore must be on your top list of priorities. If there are sections that you do not feel comfortable doing yourself, ask for help.
- Hire a professional. If all else fails, hire someone to clean your high windows at least a few times a season. If you don’t have the tools and capabilities to clean them yourself, it’s better to pass the job onto someone else instead of neglecting it entirely.
