Tulsa Offers Tour for African-American History
Oklahoma has a very dynamic African American history, some of which is well-known, and some of which is lesser so. That rich history is fascinating to a lot of people, not only those within the state, but throughout the country. To increase knowledge and awareness, Tulsa will be offering an All-Black Towns Bus Tour this coming Saturday for anyone interested in learning more about the city’s African American history.
The All-Black Towns Bus Tour will begin in Tulsa and will visit communities that were predominantly African American in the early 1800’s to early 1900’s. The tour will be divided into two buses. Each bus will have a historian to accompany and share information with participants.
Some of the towns that will be included in the tour are Summitt, the site of the Battle of Honey Springs, Tullahassee, the black community of Warrior, and Rentiesville.
Tickets for the tour will be limited and may be purchased on a first come, first serve basis. Each ticket will include a breakfast and lunch. The All-Black Towns Bus Tour will be held this Saturday, June 4.
