OSU-Tulsa Hopes for Expansion Through Vision Tulsa
Educational institutions must always find new ways to service their students, expand their offerings, and evolve with the times and technology trends. Howard Barnett, President of OSU-Tulsa, is hoping to obtain funding to bring those advances not only to the campus, but also to local businesses.
Plans for the new developments at OSU-Tulsa will be part of the Vision Tulsa tax package. The proposal will be presented before voters on April 5, and the proposed expansion will come at a cost of $3.6 million.
The Vision Tulsa expansion will make use of the land located along the inner-dispersal loop between Martin Luther King Blvd and Boulder. The plan will include a technology innovation park, as well as commercial opportunities for small businesses.
OSU-Tulsa and the City of Tulsa have worked together on the development of the Helmerich Center. The technology center will help connect researchers with private businesses to help their skills promote further growth within the community.
Also included in the expansion is possible commercial development with hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops.
