Construction Starts to Begin Replacing Tulsa Country Bridges

There are many old bridges in Tulsa are considered obsolete and no longer functional. However, many drivers still pass over them every day, which is an ongoing safety hazard. That is why a plan is now underway to repair and replace old bridges.

Crews have started working on the bridge replacements, and the first bridge to be replaced will be the Flat Creek Bridge located on Peoria along 36th and 46th Streets North. Detour routes will be along Highway 75 or the Gilcrease Expressway. Crews are expecting to complete the construction by this summer.

After the first bridge, the Delaware Creek Bridge will be replaced, which is located between 76th and 86th Streets North. Crews are expecting to finish that replacement by fall.

There are other old bridges that will also be replaced, including the bridge at Fort Gibson Lake and the Richard D. Newkirk Bridge. Highway 51 is also scheduled for road widening. The overall cost of the new bridge and road widening is about $30 million.
