How to Maximize Your Tiny Closet Space

How to Maximize Your Tiny Closet Space

If there is one thing people who love to shop hate, it’s tiny closets. It is heartbreaking to see your small closet so full and overflowing after you have gone shopping or snagged some great deals at a year-end sale. Where can you put your new clothes?

Though you may be stuck with a tiny closet, there are many ways you can maximize the space to hold far more than you would initially think. There are ways you can maximize the use of your tiny closet so everything still looks nice and organized.

Here are a few organizing tips for small closets:

  • Remove your clothes that you no longer wear. Time to reevaluate the inside of your closet and see if there are clothes you haven’t worn for a year or have no plans of wearing at all. Take them away and donate them to charity. If they are expensive items, consider selling them to a consignment shop.
  • Utilize upper shelves. The extra space can be used for seasonal clothes. If you don’t have an upper shelf but have that hollow space above, install a plank to create one.
  • Make use of the door. See the back of your door each time you open the closet? The empty space can be used for hanging shoes, belts, hats, accessories, and even coats and jackets.
  • Add stackable containers. These come in handy because you can store them under hanging clothes or stack them neatly on top of each other. You can organize your things by theme and also use them to store off-season clothes.
  • Hang your scarves and belts on a single hanger. Use tiny hooks to hang these things on one single hanger rod, so you remain consolidated, and you can easily find them.
  • Fold your undies. Inside your shelves, neatly fold all of your clothes, including your undies, so more empty space is created to be utilized.
  • Add extra rods. Make it easier to hang all of your clothes by adding extra rods. by laying your categories of clothing, you can fit more in vertically.
  • Use chains and hooks. Hang more than one piece of clothing on a hanger. The chains will allow you extra hanging space, and the hooks will allow you to hang the hangers on the chains.
