OKPOP Museum Designs Now Being Accepted in Tulsa
The Tulsa Brady Arts District will soon house one of the city’s biggest attractions yet. The OKPOP Museum has been approved by the state for construction in the area, and development proposals are now being accepted.
The OKPOP Museum is a $40 million museum that will feature some of the most interesting pop culture icons and facts from Oklahoma.. It will be something unique that will not only be enjoyable for Tulsans, but for people from all over the country.
With the plan to build the museum in the Brady Arts District, the city is already anticipating more tourists. One reason the district was chosen as the location for the museum was because it offers a one-stop destination for visitors that offers a wide variety of food and entertainment.
The sky is the limit when it comes to designs for the project. Proposals are encouraged to be creative and unique to reflect the theme of the OKPOP Museum. Within a year, designs will be chosen, and the ground breaking is scheduled for 2017, with an opening date scheduled for fall of 2019.
Funds for the new museum will be taken from various sources. Bonds and private donations will provide approximately $25 million for construction costs, and a mixture of fundraisers and private contributions will be needed to fund the $15 million for the displays.
