Tulsa Bike-Sharing Program Plans Considered
A healthier lifestyle is something most people try to achieve, and there are always people looking for ways to shift from a sedentary lifestyle to a more active one. One way to develop a more active lifestyle is to travel via bicycle instead of car. Biking is becoming an increasingly common activity in the Tulsa area, and the local government is taking notice.
Just this week, members of different agencies and organizations began considering a plan to expand the biking program in the city. A commuter-style bike sharing program was discussed to expand bike and pedestrian trails. The master plan would connect different trails, including the Riverparks, Osage, and Creek Turnpike trails. More neighborhoods would be connected as well.
The bike-sharing plan is a two-phase plan, with each phase creating 12 stations and 108 bikes. Thestations will also connect the Downtown, Brookside, and Cherry Street areas.The Bike Share Program will be spread out over five years and cost $3 million total. It will be incorporated into other plans, including the Regions Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.
