Tulsa Highways Planned for Landscaping and Tree-Planting
A beautiful entrance to the city is underway thanks to a landscaping project along Interstate-44 that is in the works. Up with Trees, which has taken the initiative for years to beautify the city and adorn its highways with natural trimmings, will be planting over 2,200 trees along the section of I-44.Trees that stretches between Riverside and Yale. They will also be planting three acres of wildflowers and flower beds.
The trees have been donated by the Tulsa Beautification Foundation and, totaling more than $2 million of landscaping improvements.
Aside from the tree-planting along I-44, there is also a larger-scale, six-year landscaping plan for specific location and types of plants throughout other areas of Tulsa. The larger plan’s goal is to rebuild the urban forest of the city, making it more attractive and less prone to ice storm damage.
Once started, the initiative will be the largest planting by Up With Trees. Planting will start this Saturday morning at I-44 and Lewis and will continue through the following two Saturdays as well.
