A Gathering Place for Tulsa Offers More Programming for Different Age Groups
The much-anticipated Gathering Place along Riverside in Tulsa is expected to be one of the largest urban recreational areas in the country. More than 66 acres of green space will be part of Phase I. It will offer areas and activities for all age groups, as well as an interactive waterfront park that is scheduled to be completed in 2017.
There will be seven playground and play areas for children at the Gathering Place. There will be Cloverville for infants and toddlers, the Fairyland Forest for ages 2 to 5 years old, the Skywalk Forest and River Giants for ages 5 to 12 years old, and the Picnic Grove and Water Mountain for all ages. The goal is to promote Active Play for all families.
The leading programming donor of the playground is Cimarex Energy Company, which has donated $5 million for programming. Cimarex is an exploration company that operates in various states, including Oklahoma. The company employs more than 400 people in Tulsa, and their donation to the Gathering Place is a way they are honoring their employees by giving back to the community.
