Tulsa Hosts Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Alzheimer’s is a debilitating disease that causes people to experience severe memory loss and lose their ability to think and communicate with ease. Most people know someone who has suffered from Alzheimer’s, which is why it is important to raise awareness of the disease.
Tulsa is supporting the cause of creating awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and prevention by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraising event hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association. Proceeds raised at the event will be used to fund projects and programs by the Alzheimer’s Association. The event will also help more people in the community learn about the disease.
The Tulsa Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held on August 22, 2015 at Guthrie Green. Everyone is invited to participate, and all ages are welcome. Registration is required, and no fee is required to join, but organizers are encouraging everyone to make a small donation.
Participants of the walk will also receive a T-shirt if they reach a minimum fundraising amount of $100. Wristbands will also be provided with a designated color. Blue will be someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Purple will be someone who has lost a loved one due to the disease. Yellow will be someone supporting or caring for a victim of the disease. Orange will be everyone supporting the cause of having a world without Alzheimer’s.
