City of Tulsa Hiring More Lifeguards to Keep Watch over Public Pools

Summertime is here, and it’s time to hit the pool! The City of Tulsa has opened its public pools for people to now enjoy, but it is still looking for additional lifeguards to work this summer. The city is working on maximizing safety within the five public pools that are now open. There are currently 40 lifeguards on staff, but they are looking for 10 more.

Lifeguards play a crucial role in maintaining pool safety, and swimmers’ lives are in their hands when any issues arise. They need to know how to swim, as well as be alert and observant. They also need to be trained in basic medical safety techniques and CPR in case anyone starts to drown.

Since 10 more lifeguards are needed, the city is willing to hire and train people who may not have previous experience as a lifeguard, but know how to swim. Candidates will be required to pass basic qualifications, such as passing a swimming test and demonstrating endurance when having to rescue someone. There will also be lessons on first-aid and education on city regulations.
