Free Breakfast and Lunch this Summer at Tulsa Public Schools
School is out, and while lots of kids are enjoying playing under the sun and getting ready for their vacations, there are others who are worried about where they are going to find their next meal.
For many kids, no school means no food. When school is in session, they can have lunch every day at their schools and be able to concentrate on their studies with a full stomach. But, when summer comes, they no longer have access to that.
That’s where the Summer Feeding program by Tulsa Public Schools steps in. TPS will once again be launching its Summer Cafe Program, where participating school cafes, churches, and community centers will be offering free breakfasts and lunches for kids. Kids 18 years and under simply have to go to participating locations, and they can dine for free.
TPS started the Summer Cafe feeding program more than 30 years ago and has helped and thousands of kids. They help not only the kids within the TPS community, but also those in different districts. Their main goal is to help reduce hunger among children and help kids from low-income families have access to nutritious meals.
