Tulsa PAC Features Dual Ragtime Concert with Morten Gunnar Larsen and Donald Ryan
Originally originating from African American music, ragtime is fun, upbeat style of music that rose in popularity in the late 19th century. Also referred to as piano thumping, ragtime is a combination of African music and European classics.
Morten Gunner Larsen is a jazz musician known for both his solo and duo ragtime pieces with fellow pianist, Donald Ryan. Larsen is the founder and musical director of the Ophelia Ragtime Orchestra and has performed contemporary ragtime compositions for years.
Ryan is a Tulsa resident who has also built a ragtime performance career playing everything from festivals to concert halls around the county. He plays solo as well as with his trio band that includes his son, Barron.
Larsen and Ryan will be pairing up for a Dual Ragtime Piano Concert this coming Sunday, Maty 31, at 2pm and will be held at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, 110 East 2nd Street.
