Tulsa City-County Library Celebrates National Readathon Day
Love cuddling up and reading for hours, exploring the adventures contained in the pages of a good book? We do! Unfortunately, despite the many benefits of reading, however, illiteracy continues to be an issue in our country, and many people who can read do not do it as often as they would like, often citing a lack of time. That’s why Decopolis is excited about National Readathon Day this weekend!
National Readathon Day is a nationwide event, sponsored by Penguin, Random House, GoodReads, Mashable, and the National Book Foundation. It aims to encourage more people to read books and spread the love of reading, even in the midst of our face-paced world.
The Tulsa City-County Library is celebrating the event by inviting everyone to read from noon to 4pm this coming Saturday, January 24. It will be opening its doors to those who want to participate in the event, and there will be breaks and discussions at different points in order to encourage more learning and sharing among fellow readers. The event is free, but seating is limited, and children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.
If you share a love of reading, stop by Decopolis sometime. We have Downtown Tulsa’s only bookstore and offer a wide variety of titles, ranging from books by local authors to classic literature, Little Golden Books, and everything in between!
