Claremore Pumpkin Festival
It’s officially October, and pumpkins are in! Celebrate Fall at Shepherd’s Cross pumpkin patch in Claremore starting this weekend.
The working and mission farm has a large array of pumpkins to choose from throughout its grounds and will also offer a variety of fun activities for your family and friends, such as walking around the hay maze, taking hayrides, creating scarecrows, and meeting and petting animals on the farm. Because it is a religious-based farm, Shepherd’s Cross will also offer educational talks exploring the connection between farming and the Bible with a focus on the autumn harvest season.
In addition to being used for fun fall decor and jack-o-lanterns, pumpkins are also great for cooking things like pumpkin pies, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin soup, pumpkin pudding, pumpkin waffles, and more. Pumpkin is known to be a very good source of Vitamin A, as well as Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Iron, Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, and Fiber. It provides a lot of health benefits including healthy vision, a strong immune system, healthy skin due to beta carotene, and good digestion.
The Pumpkin Festival is open to the public every weekend in October, so mark your calendar and head on out to celebrate this fun tradition!
