Walk with Dinosaurs in Tulsa
Looking for something fun to do with your kids? Walking with Dinosaurs, a spectacular production based on the award-winning BBC television series, is coming to the BOK Center for a limited three-performance engagement, and tickets go on sale soon! The performances will be on November 11th and 12th.
This long-running production has returned to the USA to give a fun and educational experience to kids everywhere. Watch huge creatures roam the arena and enjoy the thrill and awe in your kids’ eyes as they take it all in. The show features many dinosaur species and shows kids what they looked like and how they evolved over time.
Here are some fun facts about Walking with Dinosaurs:
- To operate one dinosaur requires three individuals: one driver and two puppeteers. The first puppeteer operates the tail and the head, while the other puppeteer operates the minor movements, such as blinking, mouth movement, and roaring.
- Each large dinosaur weighs about 1.6 tons, which is equivalent to a standard car. They move around on 6 roller blade wheels.
- The production crew uses trucks that are 73 feet long to move the whole production from one location to the next.
- Each large dinosaur contains about 1094 yards of cabling, 971 feet of fabric, 433 feet of hydraulic hose, 53 gallons of paint, 24 microprocessors to control movement, 12 truck batteries, 15 hydraulic rams, and 6 hydraulic motors.
- There are a total of 20 dinosaurs, with 10 separate species represented, including large dinosaurs and baby dinosaurs.
